Leonardo da Vinci said, “I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.”The man in the picture is doing. His task is so compelling that he has stopped on the way to work to complete it. I'd like to believe he is working on one of his goals professional or personal greatness.
Each morning is a spendid time to ask yourself the question: Are my goals moving me into action? Do I feel urgency to complete them?
I know what I want and I am willing, but am I "doing"?
To give urgency to your goals:
- Break them into manageable chunks
- Give each chunk a time slot on your calendar
As you go through the days and the months, you will bump into that piece of your goal sitting right there at 10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. You will feel urgency to complete it so you can check it off as finished on your task list.

Interesting post, Karla.
We have to be careful not fall into the Cult of Behavior (and its sub cults of knowledge, work and motivation) rather than "worthy performance"(according to Gilbert).
We might be tempted to just correct our behavior, show motivation, show we know something (knowledge) show we are doing something (work), with little or no focus on the outcomes.
It is a good thing to be productive. But excellence is what we need to have in mind as our goal even before we start a task.
