Technology and Your Future World

Employability Skills for the 21st Century ...

Technology seems to hold the world in its fingertips, turning and churning it at will. I admit, I’m intimidated by technology. It is so powerfully simple when being used by a skilled IT person, an excellent graphic designer, or a web expert yet to me it has so many layers, angles, and options.

Do you relate? Have you ever been at a loss when your virus protection stops working or your Microsoft Outlook churns incessantly? There seems to be so much code that can be corrupted. Or do you wonder at all the hype over MySpace, LinkedIn, and other Web 2.0 innovations?

No matter how challenging technology is for you or how tired you are at having to learn to use the newest release of software, never stop trying. Technology can perform details and routine work more efficiently than a human and gives you, your products, and your services 24/7 exposure which is expected from buyers in our global marketplace. Electronic gadgets and software programs are key ingredients in your effectiveness, productivity, and ultimately a job in the 21st Century marketplace.

When you first open a LinkedIn account, try features in Outlook you have never used or wade through your new CRM software, everything is pretty awkward but as with any other skill, persistence and a “geek” friend is the key to power.

MUST READ BOOK: To help you understand the Web 2.0 networking, read a book by Ellen Sautter and Diane Crompton entitled Seven Days To Online Networking. It is available through the publisher at http://www.jist.com/ or on Amazon.

By putting a plethora of information in the hands of technology, you’ll keep your future in your own hands.
